We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsPosition Summary:Under the direction of the CMO and CNO, the Infection Preventionist is responsible for the delivery of quality patient care by the prevention of hospital acquired infections through staff and patient education, oversight of hospital practices as related to infection prevention and ongoing surveillance. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift.Position Requirements: a) Licensure/Certification/Registration: 1. Current license as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of South Carolina. 2. BLS Certified b) Education: 1. Must have completed a post-secondary degree in a health-related field including but not limited to: Nursing c) Experience: 1. Must have experience in clinical nursing d) Special qualifications: 1. Must remain familiar with current regulatory, accreditation and professional agencies with regard to Infection Prevention and Control 2. Must maintain membership in Association for Professional in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) 3. Must have a working knowledge of epidemiological principles and infectious disease as it applies to Infection Prevention and Control 4. Must be computer literate and able to produce reports using basic computer programs 5. Must have the ability to interact effectively with all levels of healthcare personnel, both internal and external 6. Must be able to envision and implement effective strategies for the cost-effective prevention of transmissible infections 7. Must provide guidance and oversight in the Health Systems practices for sterilization, sanitation and disinfection.
